Character Name: Camina Drummer
Age: Early 30s
Canon: The Expanse (TV)
Canon Point: Season 3, Episode 10 ("Dandelion Sky")
CRAU: N/A
History: Wiki here. Note: Drummer will be coming in remembering that she's just been trapped in the farming equipment with Klaes Ashford.
Personality: Drummer is someone often seen as a hardass captain and XO on first meeting. She's pragmatic, strong-willed, and with an eye for efficiency over comfort in her position as a leader, even at the expense of making decisions that could make things easier in the short-term. Drummer's eyes are always on the future of all Belters, even as she struggles to shift her goals from helping various OPA factions take freedom and respect from the Inner planets in small pieces to making the Belt a unified front that can both claim autonomy for itself and support all its people without fracturing under the weight of internal conflicts or outside pressure from the Inner planets.
She is a Belter, hardened from a life in space, of salvaging, and of living at the side of great people trying to do great things for all Belters. She's resilient, adaptable, a champion for treating everyone with respect and equality, and with a deep sense of integrity. Drummer is often looked to as the person to make the hard choices in the most stressful moments, as she will set aside her own pride, wants, and personal comforts in order to make the choice that will benefit the most people. Sometimes this means letting her friend go from her position as Chief Engineer to return to the ship the engineer really calls home. Other times it means executing former allies who became the leaders of a group mutineers to ensure there are no further uprisings. Either way, she will make her choice and own it, no matter the long-term consequences. It can make her unpopular at times, but it makes her capable of both forgiveness and reconciliation when she realizes it was her own actions or prejudices that caused a rift between her and someone she's working with.
Drummer is also a very short-tempered person who hides her softer side from everyone around her with her anger. Those who know her best will praise her ability to handle tough situations with grace and a willingness to listen to criticism of her actions, but they don't cut her slack for her quick reaches for violence, insults, threats, and sarcasm when someone pisses her off. They know Drummer is capable of unsinkable loyalty to those who've earned her trust, but it requires pushing through and back on all of the outward pressure she exerts. Drummer isn't looking to be comforted or vulnerable, even with those she loves. She's looking to get shit done and to lift up Belters, not make friends. Allies, yes, but the rest can wait until things are better for everyone.
Abilities: Camina is a Belter: human with a body that's adapted to life in space. Her bones have a lighter density than those used to living on Earth with its full gravity, making it easier for her (like other Belters) to move about in space but making life on a planet with a full 1G of gravity impossible.
She's trained in, has experience with, and is comfortable with all of the following activities above surface level:
-Space walks
-Ggeneral (small system) space station and ship repairs/retrofits
-General electronics repair and programming
-Handguns, grenades, general combat (including in a space suit)
-Administrative work
-Negotiations
-Management/commanding groups of people on space stations and ships
Inventory:
-Tycho station jumpsuit
-Single pistol (handgun) loaded with hard plastic rounds + a thigh holster
-A non-functional hand terminal.
-A personal space suit.
Eternal Reward: To go home to a Belt that is no longer suppressed by the Inner planets, where all Belters are free to rule themselves and have ready access to the myriad supplies they need to survive in the harsh environment of space without getting bankrupt or blackmailed for it.
Goals/Ideas: Drummer is going to spend the first few months of the game trying to figure out how and why everything works the way it does in Limbo. She knows she needs to have cash on hand for that, so she'll be finding some job either gives her access to information she's looking for (an assistant in some city or other official office) or something menial she knows she's good at that will pay her well enough that she can work few hours and put her ear to the ground the rest (hauling/moving cargo in a warehouse, for example). Allies are next on her list, and she'll be putting herself out there to find those ASAP (and will be coming in with having one in Miller). I also plan to slowly canon update Drummer throughout her time in game, all the way to the end of the final season of the show when she becomes President of the Transport Union, as she starts to grow and develop new relationships.
Samples: Samples from TDM.
Secret Code Phrase: "My curse is my redemption."
